Responsibilities & Accountability

1. Payment Entry
   • Post payments accurately into the practice management system.
   • Record payment batches with appropriate dates and identification details.
   • Balance payment batches and run transaction reports.
   • Verify EFT deposits, electronic payments, and scanned checks.
   • Ensure all applicable payments are posted within the required timelines.
2. Properly communicate and document payment denials in the practice management system and escalate them to the appropriate billing representative.
3. Identify underpayments or payments that do not meet the contracted/allowed amount and communicate discrepancies to the appropriate team.
4. Process and batch patient statements electronically as required.
5. Prepare invoices related to applicable healthcare or attorney-fee transactions and coordinate with the concerned office upon receipt of payment.
6. Department Support
   • Provide cross-functional support to other RCM departments, including charge entry.
   • Maintain professional knowledge of medical/dental billing, coding procedures, insurance carriers, and applicable healthcare programs.
